and owners of the lands on which we work and live across Australia. We pay our respects to

Elders of the past, present and into the future.

A Family Foundation established in 2022

Purpose

The Montebello Foundation's purpose is to invest in projects and ideas that create meaningful change for individuals or communities initially in South Australia and Northern Territory.

Vision

To make a positive impact on society.

Mission

To provide resources needed to support and build a society that works for everyone.

Our Legacy

The Montebello Foundation, established in 2022, aims to create a legacy of impactful projects focusing on long-term support for those in need, advancing sustainability research, and enhancing educational opportunities. Dr. Margaret Davy AM envisioned a foundation that invests in projects bringing positive change to individuals and communities in South Australia and Northern Territory.

"My hope is that the Foundation will become a legacy which enables investment in a range of projects focused on long term support for people in need, facilitating research in sustainability or advancing educational opportunities in a range of diverse areas."

Dr Margaret Davy AM

Intent

The Montebello Foundation was established with the intention of:

  • Focusing on projects that include a commitment to evaluation

  • Building capacity by funding areas of need through:

    • Proof of concept

    • Seeding grants

    • Longer term projects which have a finite endpoint

  • Involving family

  • Growing over time to exist in perpetuity

Philosophy

The Foundation:

  • Supports projects that benefit the South Australian and Northern Territory communities in the first instance

  • Prepared to take calculated risks on new ideas with projects that have identifiable goals and include evaluation

The Foundation will fund projects that:

  • Demonstrate collaboration - working with others to trial and test solutions, combining knowledge and resources.

  • Promote self-determination - building capacity of others, promoting autonomy and ensuring that communities and individuals are the drivers of their futures.

  • Promote excellence – supporting people and ideas that show potential to be outstanding in their field.

  • Promote equity of access in priority areas as defined below.

Grants may include operational costs but are time limited. Proposals will need to focus on addressing gaps and maximising opportunities created through novel ideas and innovation.

Grant recipients will be expected to provide progress and final reports in timeframes relevant to the size and duration of the grant.

Funding Priorities:

  • Priority areas:

    • Community health and wellbeing activities

    • Improving Aboriginal health and wellbeing

    • Contributing to sustainable environments

  • Priority areas are reviewed annually
